Within a no fault states the insurance company will pay to have your car repaired. After they fix the car they can then go to the other person's insurance company and ask for money if they believe the other driver is at fault. The other drivers in the accident will be covered by whatever policy they might have at the time of the accident. Your no fault insurance is only your insurance.

If you get in an accident in a choice state then you will also have some options. Option 1: have your insurance company repair the damages. Option 2: leave your insurance company out of the process and have the others driver's insurance company fix the problem. This way you do not have to let your insurance company know about the accident, and you will often times find that you save a deductible.

No fault insurance was set up to try and prevent massive amount of lawsuits from happening right after accidents occur. The only problem with this is that you cannot prevent citizen's right to sue.
